Chrome Rim Care
Unlike many other rims, chrome rims require special care. It is important to remember that your chrome wheels are not made of chrome but only have a thin layer of chrome coating.
It is best to use warm water and a soft cloth or sponge to clean you wheels. Many products designed for other types of rims contain abrasives that can wear away the layer of chrome exposing the metal underneath.
You also need to use special care when parking next to a curb. "Curb rash" can happen to all wheels but it is especially problematic with chrome rims because you cannot "buff out" deeper scratches like you can with other rims.
If you do scratch your rims and don't want to replace them you can go to your local auto parts store and by a product that will fill in the scratch with a chrome looking paint. It is not the best solution but it is much less expensive than purchasing a brand new wheel.
